mass murder -- and genocide

There was a bit of confusion the other day about "mass murder" and genocide.

Mass murder involves statistically substantial murder -- relatively
speaking. Its motive is simply to get rid of people for whatever reason or
reasons.

Genocide is, very specifically, racial/ethnic and/or cultural murder.  Its
thrust is to wipe out a whole people, based on their particular race or
ethnicity or culture [or, more rarely, some other common characteristic].
If you physically kill people, you kill as well their culture [total way of
life, tangible and non-tangible.]  If you kill "only" their culture, you
kill their souls.

When you cut to the bone  and cut away the college degrees, academic and
other titles, published books and articles, ours is essentially a working
