A friendly, info note on Lupus and certain medicines: msg#00171politics.marxism.analysis
Note by Hunter Bear: [Normally we would restrict this to our little [15] Lupus list -- most of whom do not have Lupus. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/LupusDiscussion_Posts/ On the other hand, I do wish to thank all of my well-wishers, as well as to continue my broadening of an awareness of the often deadly and complex nature of Lupus, especially in its extreme version of SLE [which afflicts me.] Dear: We're open to discussion of all reasonable approaches in our Lupus fight. I think that each person has to determine for himself/herself what's the best approach -- or combination. For months in my case, a great many people have been involved in supportive prayer and just good thoughts -- and this involves a very large number of Indian people of many nations as well as many non-Indians. A prominent national leader of the Native American Church has offered -- at any point I wish -- to make arrangements with its nearby Fort Hall reservation congregation for a night long peyote ceremony. We much appreciate all of these things. We certainly appreciate your insights. I am taking about 15 medicines per day -- including prednisone. I operate to a large extent on intuition as well as logic. Intuition and logic each warn me against becoming involved with immune-destroying chemo drugs. Prednisone, in conjunction with SLE, gave me almost immediate diabetes. I can handle that. But I have no reason to believe that the chemo approaches -- in my case where my immunity is really shot to Hell but perhaps not right now permanently destroyed -- would not give me cancer. Frankly, I think they -- methotrexate and/or imuran -- would give me cancer. Lupus obviously has a thousand faces -- more than Lon Chaney. What's sauce for me is not necessarily sauce for thee! All best - Hunter Bear HUNTER GRAY [HUNTER BEAR] www.hunterbear.org When you cut to the bone and cut away the college degrees, academic and other titles, published books and articles, ours is essentially a working class and Indian family. We consistently join unions -- and we always support them with the greatest vigor. It's critical to always keep fighting -- and to always remember that, if one lives with grace, he/she should be prepared to die with grace.
