"Left, Left? Marching with the Right."
Notes on the the Irish Left who prefer struggle to victory
"Hysterical spurts are of no use to us.
What we need is the steady march of the iron battalions of
the proletariat."
Lenin
You can see them chanting at all demos for any cause. They
always carry politically correct posters.
They are noisier than any one else. They are very good at
chanting, with the experienced "lead singer"
and the response choir who knows their well rehearsed text.
Actually, this is the only thing they do
professionally and with genuine pleasure. Noisy manifestations
are their specialty. Their style and
methods of recruiting have something of the Jehovah Witnesses.
Indeed, invariably their participation in
any demonstration ends up with calling on people to join their
organization.

Re: [L-I] Re: please verify saddam hussein's speech 9/16
Dear Macdonald,
that's really bad. Not reading it very carefulkly I took it seriously and
passed
it on to an internet journal (www.kalaschnikow.de) which published it as an
original.

Does Ms. Malenko regard what Sinn Fein has accomplished in Ireland as a
victory? I guess it's a victory for Gery Adams, who now has a role in governing
Ireland on behalf of British, Irish and U.S. capital. But it's certainly a
betrayal of everything Sinn Fein claimed to stand for up until a few years ago.
Perhaps our Russian correspondent doesn't know it, but it's not just
"Trotskyists" who have criticized the Northern Irish "peace process".
Bernadette Devlin McAliskey (sp?), one of themost prominent and respected
leaders of the struggle of the Nationalist working class for decades, strongly
condemned Sinn Fein's capitulation to imperialism (without, however,
recommending that Sinn Fein return to its old militarist tactics)!
- Aaron
P.S. I think the political tendency of the British SWP deserves severe
criticism for many things, and, given their position on the Soviet Union, I
hardly would call them Trotskyists. But Ms. Malenko criticizes them from the
right, not from the left.
