Who cares about the *cradle of civilization* when there's no Hardee's? That
simply leaves me *speechless*.
Praise God and pass the barbecue sauce.

I don't know why you're so surprised. Your typical enlistee is not the most
highly educated and worldly individual.

First, who said I was surprised? I'm sickened, disgusted, revolted,
nauseated, revulsed, agitated, disturbed, and brought low. But, sadly, not
surprised.
Second, you assume that "another soldier" is an elistee, but there's no
evidence for that assumption. He or she might be a graduate of one of the
service academies. I mean, it's not like the upper echelons of the military
are full of the sort of people who would rather do anything than go to
another country and kill strangers...
As Spielberg never tired of pointing out in Schindler's List (to take one
recent, well-known example), being a "highly educated and worldly
individual" is perfectly consonant with inflicting horrible evil and madness
upon others.
