Updating information in my storage

Hello,

I'm using Zend_Auth and have a page where my users can change their information (email, name, password etc..). Problem is, when they change the email address (for example) the storage/identity ($auth->getIdentity()) doesnt get updated. Do i need to re-authenticate a user after (s)he updates the information or is there a smarter way?
