There's always a lot of enquiries about the use of the ACL on the #zfchat channel on freenode IRC. I can point people at this thread now for an idea about how to go about extending and implementing ACL deeper into the design of their apps. I'm pretty sure I'll be following along similar lines shortly. I had a couple of reservations myself when I posted my reply, but when I think about it, It seems a fairly efficient way to do granular control of page elements/controls. For anyone else following up this thread later, it's probably worth mentioning that the view helpers, once instantiated, are persistant within the view object and are re-used on subsequent calls. I think this will prove to be a satisfying approach as we look forward to the new functionality of Padraic & Ralphs work on the view in the MVC. Cheers Graham |
