Re: Help With php-syslog!: msg#00015

Subject: Re: Help With php-syslog!
Well, Thanks, I got it to install!

I was looking over the general php.ini, not the one under the /etc/php5/apache2 directory... what a shame of mine ;)

Now theres some minor issues, the SEARCH button gives me the following error :

Notice: Undefined variable: result_array in /local/syslog/html/includes/regularresult.php on line 390 No results found.

I didnt marked any of the include/exclude host, facilities, etc

Although, the TAIL button will give me the results correctly. but not the SEARCH one

Also the graphing has a problem, but I think its related to that TTF font I still havent installed

Thanks for you help and your valiant work on this project, its great!

I've never used Suse -- I'm a big fan of Ubuntu myself -- but it should be about the same.
Couple of things to check:
1. Make sure you are changing the memory limit setting in the correct php.ini (on some systems there is a separate php.ini for apache and another for the cli version of php)
2. make sure that the config/config.php file is writeable by your web user (the user that apache runs under)
3. make sure that the web user owns all these directories.

ok!

I changed the value to 128MB on php.ini, restarted everything but still, it seems to have no effect... the limit on the installer still appears as 16MB

I have installed a lot on mysql and php packages and now ONLY the last  item (save path) is red with "unset, UNWRITABLE" value.

I'll keep looking to see how I cant change this memory limit.

I'm using OPENSuse 10.2.

Thanks again for your support!

Ahh, ok!

After you make the appropriate changes to your php.ini, be sure to restart apache.
Make sure everything is green on that first page prior to advancing.
It is not likely (but possible) that you would need to change my.cnf, but if you do, you will need to restart mysql for the changes to take effect as well.

P.S. I have customers using this with 30,000 devices, heh heh

P.P.S. Copying the lists to be sure other can learn from this as well, please reply-all :-)

Thanks for you support Clayton

I'm not a linux expert but I'm learning as I go...

No, there are somethings that are RED indeeed, memory limit, zlib, etc etc, i tried to mess with php.ini file but the numbers there just dont change. I guess I need to install some other packages, I'll keep trying. Now I'm going to check that my.cnf file someoe just talked about in some other post.

I work at a major mobile phone operator and we have some.... 500-600 Cisco boxes all over the country, still I think there are a lot more, but I dont have full visibility because we are regionalized.

Thanks once again!

Hi Julio,
Not sure what may be happening, does the first install screen show everything as green?
I had problems with Dan Berlin's version of the CEMDB database import when I was trying to import (that was v2.9.3 ) so I reverted back to an older version and did a manual import of his version  after the install.
Have you completely read the three text files that come with the install? (README, CHANGLELOG and TROUBLESHOOTING)

Just out of curiosity, how big of a network is this?

Hello ppl!

I just upgraded to a CLEAN install of php-syslog 2.9.3a, the new one, but I just cant get it to install. I get an all white screen at " install2.php", just after I click NEXT on the screen with the database settings.

I noticed that IF I dont check the box "install CEMB"  box, it will install correctly and  the next screen will prompt me about the site name.

Can anyone give me some advice? I run a 100% cisco BIG network and the CEMB feature would surely help me a LOT!

Thanks in advance!
