Hi Jason, Take a look at http://michael.yoon.org/software/smarty-plugins/ - this plugin can be downloaded and will save you a lot of time developing your own! It's not perfect - I had to make some code adaptations to get it to work on the sites I design (e.g., http://uk.gay.com/headlines/) but Michael Yoon deserves credit for creating a solution in the first place.
