Re: Templatizing PHPlist: msg#00006

Subject: Re: Templatizing PHPlist

Well, isn't that the beauty of it. It already helps your business and just some tweaks will help it even more. And then, it will help others as well. Isn't open source great?
If you have questions, just post them to the list (not that I'll always know the answer :-) )

Ok, I will take a look and see.. Getting this working would help out my business
somewhat, so I may as well see what I can do.

That would be great!. The public pages are subscribe, unsubscribe,
preferences, and forward. So that's not too bad.

Still, quite tricky though, and I think it's not that trivial. If you
want to develop, make sure to run from the latest CVS,
http://docs.phplist.com/PhplistCVS and read a few things at

Hmm... Well, I wonder how difficult it would be to do it just for the public viewable
pages. How many of those are there? There is the subscribe and unsubscribe. Any
others? I'm assuming it wouldn't be too hard to just fix up those pages. I don't see
a
"pressing" need to have the admin pages done the same way. If there's not so much to
it
I could possibly take that on..

Yes, I agree, that would be fantastic. It's been on the wish list for
quite a long time. The problem is finding the time to actually do it.
And then also in relation to the long list of other issues that are
"open and unresolved". http://mantis.phplist.com

I'm afraid I'm personally being side tracked by too many other things
all the time, but it's definitely one that's high on the list.

Hi everyone.. I've been using PHPlist on and off for a couple of years, and lately
I'm
using it a lot more for our small business web sites.. I really appreciate all the
features and ease of use and installation. The one feature I would like to have the
most at this time that is not present is to have all the HTML separated out into
templates so I could modify the layout more easily and know that on upgrades all the
custom layout fixes I made aren't going to be lost. For example on the last
installation I did for a site, I changed the ListAttributes function to show all
text
attributes before the "I prefer to receive emails in HTML format" checkbox.
Visually,
I
think that looks better...

So, has there been any discussion or ideas on doing this in a future release? Maybe
allowing the user to create their own "theme" similar to the way WordPress does it.

Thanks!

- Matt
