I think there's GREAT interest in this...Either it would show the
next...say, 5 events, or perhaps something that would show, in text form,
events for the next 2 or 3 days.

there was traffic on this list a long time ago looking for such things,
so, if even you don't officially fork the file, make your work available
for download, please!!
