i don't care about the name, could as well stay with cairo_wrapper
as i named it on php-baustelle.de ... but a simple "cairo" seemed
to be more to the point here

Yes, i didn't discuss the name on the list, but there were several
personal requests to "move this to PECL" or "just commit" ... and
so i did.

What year would that have been? To be honest i can't remember having
seen anything. I might have. I know i stopped looking into this some
years ago as you mentioned you were working on something similar, but
i honestly don't remember seeing any code. Neither seems anybody else
i know ...

Even me starting to work on this again was only triggered by people
becoming tired of waiting for whatever you may be working on.

My approach may be way less perfect than yours, i don't know. Nobody
knows as there is nothing visible to compare it to yet. All i know
is that some people out there are eager to use my stuff and that
for some of them it is crucial that this is available from PECL itself
and not form a 3rd party channel.

So if you have something that better fulfills these peoples needs
don't hesitate to publish it. But don't try to "own" it without
delivering, this only works so far ... and we are now definetly
beyond that point in time now ...
