For those interested, I ported Wolfram's DB_QueryTool
to MDB. Right now, I've just translated DB mgmt to MDB,
and it's completely indipendent from the original package
(ie it doesn't require DB_QT, but it is exactly the same
implementation, only ported to MDB)
but I've had a chat with Wolfram and we're considering
writing a common (shared) base class so to minimize
update maintenance of the two classes.
It should be fully functional, and you can find a preview

If you want (or don't want) to see this class in PEAR,
please let me know your opinion. :-)
