Dear Rosamunda,

The first thing that /might/ be the case it the one that you are running
drupal from a /subdirectory/ You should modify your .htaccess to run in a
subdirectory. please search drupal.org for this, because there are so many
possible solution for running drupal in a subdirectory, that it makes no
sense in placing them all here.

But to me it looks that the allow override settings are very tight set by your
host.
In other words: your hosting provider does not allow you to set the correct
settings needed for drupal.

There are a lot of ways around it, but the easiest would be to get in touch
with you provider, send them you .htacess file and tell them that those are
the settings you would like to use for your domain. Ask them if there are any
settings in there that they do not allow.

If they are not willing to help you, you could try the settings one by one.
Try removing every setting and try if it changes anything. If so, you know
that particular settings has an error. continue untill you tried all
settings, and see if the site is online, or if you get another error.

Regards,
Bèr Kessels
