Detail information of Drupal

Hi folks,

Just join this list and Drupal is complete new to me. 
Kindly advise;

1) where can I find detailed information of the
applications of Drupal other than the simple
introduction on home/website.  

2) Is it itself an OS with built-in applications or it
has to be run on a Linux distro?

3) If it has to run on Linux distro, can it run on
Unix/FreeBSD
