How can I get to these? Who do I have to ask for permission?

This is why I suggested a strategy earlier that would still make the nodes
available as previous versions. As long as they are unpublished, the number of
people who can work on them is very minimal. Switching them to in moderation
would be better; nevertheless, that puts the burden on the docs list and the
few others with access to the moderation queue to work on the snippets.

I would like to keep php snippets as part of the handbook. I'll be republishing the snippets over the next week, keep them in moderation and attempt to contact the snippet authors by e-mail. When I can't contact the author, I'll leave a note and keep the snippet in moderation.

I hereby also volunteer to check newly submitted snippets for obvious security defects before they are published (I must be nuts :). I won't edit submitted snippets, just inform the authors (I hope in a kind and constructive way).

Regards,

Heine
