Re: Status of Drupal documentation: Comments, Most popular pages, most searched terms |
Hello, Kieran,
The best version of the OpenID module lives here:
http://www.openidenabled.com/software/drupal/
This module was coded by Jonathan Daugherty at JanRain; there was a
thread in the development list about it a while back.
I'm working with JanRain to document the setup to help make OpenID
accessible to a larger group of users. As this documentation gets
developed, I'll include it on drupal.org
Cheers,
Bill

LDAP and single sign on:
Step one: an OpenID server with a pluggable authentication

Combine this with a module that OpenID enables Drupal. Add code that
extends OpenID by allowing identities to be carried across sites.
All this code exists. We're working on documenting how to connect
the dots, and on testing the various components.
I have put up an administration help page for the LDAP module.
http://drupal.org/node/62217 It needs some review from someone who
is actually uses this module.
Bill, if you point me to the OpenID modules I can start a draft
document.
Cheers,
Kieran
Step two: Code that allows a Drupal site to be the front end of an
OpenID server -- a bit further down the road, but something that's
on our radar.
Cheers,
Bill
All this code exists.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LDAP !!!!!
Which goes to show that professionals - not logged into Drupal.org
want to see if we can provide good backend integration with Single
Signon possibilities. They leave after figuring out, that we don't
really.
Authenticated users know we don't have good integration.
Very interesting.
Best
