Re: [Issue 201] editor checkbox to convert wikiwords to links: msg#00036

Subject: Re: [Issue 201] editor checkbox to convert wikiwords to links
My goals are
  1. Don't loose functionality
  2. Keep it simple.
Archie seemed to indicate that it was difficult to use unmarked CamelCase for links in the new parser.  So I though converting them to normal notation would be a good fallback.  If we can support it transparently, then great!  (Is this one of those Apple things?)

I admit that I too find CamelCase "trite", but it is a sort of Wiki
standard. Would it be hard to scan for it and convert it to [[CamelCase]]?

BTW, the fact that the parser no longer "accepts" camel case should be a
bug...
:-( It's a loss of functionality that was not agreed to by me.

Ok. I'll process CamelCase to [[CamelCase]]. Give me a few days.

Archie & Paul,

before you start implementing such things you should consider what the
CamelCaseLinks were good for in the original wiki. Their were there for
_simplicity_.

If you imply square brackets for a CamelCase link, you make the markup more
complicated, IMHO. And I do not understand, why you just don't take the
already written functions that recoginize CamelCaseLinks and reuse the code.
