As there is not really working IDE for PHP, I am working with joe (Linux)
and sometimes with HomeSite (I am very used to the editor, only the editor -
for color coding). Hence the 80 chars boundary I insist of.
On my screen (if I work with win32 with X-Server), I have several xterms
open to check and display the debug output and unusual errors from PHP. The
webservers run on a separate Linux machine with its own local DNS and MTA
and five or more different self baked PHP CGIs (with different
configurations).
(If I use Win32,) I use Win32 as a workstation. It only provides a X-Server
for the Linux machine and is client - never server. Hence I won't run
web-services (apache, php, coWiki) on this machine.
