I have nothing against JavaScript, as long as it's used appropriately and 
for the right reasons.  However, it can take a lot of work to get 
JavaScript to behave properly on the assortment of web browsers that are 
available, and anything that gets in the way of a tool's usefulness is not 
a good thing.

The JavaScript that is in coWiki now seems to behave well, so if that care 
can be applied throughout and it ultimately makes coWiki a better tool, 
why not?
