Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: spirit based parser for c++? Initial Comment: is there any project/effort concerning a spirit based parser for the C++ language? If there isn't, it would be appreciated if we could start such an effort, even a restricted solution is better than none at all. At least we could eventually improve on the existing solution. I would think the following link might be helpful for such an effort: http://www.nongnu.org/hcb/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2006-05-01 08:37 Message: Logged In: NO That's an inherently complex job, several people people have tried it already, check the archives for earlier postings about this. To no avail. Basically, spirit (in its current form) is probably not necessarily the ideal tool for such a complex language as C++. On the other hand, it would of course be cool to have something like this based on spirit in order to show spirit's power ;-) In particular given the lack of a decent freely available parser for C++. Maybe the existing attempts (as mentioned on the mailing list) could be committed to cvs (i.e. a contrib) directory so that people could still get to work on it eventually, that way we might end up one day with a corresponding spirit parser for C++ Anyway, it's certainly a non-trivial task and I am afraid spirit would need to be seriously enhanced in order to make it a feasible basis for such an effort. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=393389&aid=1479422&group_id=28447 ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
