Thanks, Wolfgang, I was thinking I might try out a current kernel anyway.
Things do look more promising using the current kernel source, although the
MegaRAID card still seems to be having interrupt issues (see the attached
kernel output). It was also a pleasant surprise to find nForce3 integrated
audio working and the ATA controller now using the viaide driver. Nice.
I found that the joe editor and X11 wouldn't run under this kernel (both fail
with a signal 11), although note that the X-server is the one from the 2.0
distribution.
