Subject: Re: CDRECORD w/ out SCSI

When I try to burn a CD or type cdrecord -scanbus, CDRecord says "Can not load ASPI driver! Permission denied. Can not open SCSI driver." I think the problem might be that I'm not root. I know how to be become root in Linux but can't figure it out in Cygwin, I've tried su and root, neither of which works. Do you know how to become root in Cygwin?

It just occured to me that I've only been using cdrecord
for burning the audio track. If I remember correctly, I
had problems early on getting it to work for the data
track, so I switched to a free or demo burning application.

It's been a while since I burned a CD, since I normally just pipe applications over to the DC by way of the serial
connection or ethernet. I'll check my notes and get back
to you with more info asap.

What parameters would I use to write it with IDE then? Could you
please send me a sample of what you would write at your command line to
burn a disk with CDRecord.

Thanks,
Michael

It should work the same with IDE as with SCSI.
I use it all the time and I don't have SCSI either.

my system. In the man pages it doesn't mention IDE at all.

Thanks,
Michael
