Bug: "doctype" in lowercase is not recognized: msg#00026org.w3c.validator
I tried two (valid) HTML 4.01 files, whose only difference is that "DOCTYPE" is uppercase in one and lowercase in the other. The validator only recognizes the uppercase version, the other is declared valid, but of unknown type. http://validator.w3.org/check/?uri=http%3A//tux.w3.org/%7Ebbos/test-uc.html http://validator.w3.org/check/?uri=http%3A//tux.w3.org/%7Ebbos/test-lc.html In fact, in the second case, the validator fails to find the charset, probably because it failed to find the DOCTYPE in the first place.
