Today's Topics: 1. Log4j: Multiple appenders and rolling the log (Sri Sankaran) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 09:10:11 -0400 From: "Sri Sankaran" <Sri.Sankaran@xxxxxxx> Subject: [Juglist] Log4j: Multiple appenders and rolling the log To: <Juglist@xxxxxxxxxx> Message-ID: <D4915B279E169F4992940DFF313EB4BF0950AF57@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Our J2EE (JEE) application comprises a WAR for the web component and an EJB JAR. Both use the same log4j properties file and therefore are configured to write to the same destination (a RollingFileAppender). The trouble with this is that the file cannot be rotated because when one of the parties (the Elb app or the web app) tries this operation, it is denied because the other has it locked. What is the recommended approach around this problem? Configuring the EJB app and the web app to write to different locations would require the untenable task of having to piece together messages from different files to get a chronologically contiguous listing. Any thoughts? Sri -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
