Subject: Linux Support Job Opportunity...

Hello,
I hope not to occupy bandwidth beyond my welcome. If possible, could the
following make the Mail List?? I am a recruiter charged with finding a very
savvy Linux 3rd level problem solver-sys engineer. The community you'll
support are a pretty sophisticated bunch so if they're coming to you, it's
probably not a simple problem. It's a 3 tier network with Linux running on
some servers (also Solaris, and Win2k), and at the client level mostly Linux
desktops and laptops. This is permanent full time employment in Chicago. Any
interested candidates please respond to this email, or call me.

Thanks a lot.
I hope to speak to you soon,

RE: wireless LAN for Linux

I have used Cisco 340 and 350 series cards w/o issues with RH9 and SuSE 7.2. But you will have to pay the Cisco premium. The PCI card I bought for my desktop cost me around $200. So far I have looked at the D-Link 520+ (apparently based on a proprietary Texas Instruments Chip) and the Linksys WMP11 (these *used* to use prism 2, but now use a currently unsupported Broadcom chip set.) This pretty much takes care of the offerings at Best Buy and Micro Center. If anyone has had any luck with wireless PCI (or USB hardware) under linux I would love to know. Any adivice where to find this stuff in Chicago (and price paid) would also be appreciated. Wireless and RedHat 9

Hello everyone, I am having problems with my wireless card under RedHat 9 on my laptop. It works fine initially but then just stops working after a random amount of time. I can restart the networking by typing "/etc/init.d/pcmcia restart" but it dies again after a little while. Everything worked flawlessly in RedHat 8.0. I am using an Orinoco gold card. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob Robert Henning University of Chicago at Argonne 9700 South Cass Avenue BioCARS - Building 434 B Argonne, IL 60439 phone: (630) 252-0446 fax: (630) 252-0443 ______________________________________________________________________ Linux Users Of Northern Illinois - Technical Discussion luni@xxxxxxxx http://luni.org/mailman/listinfo/luni

Word diff?

I discovered a wdiff ("word diff") that showed the changes in words between two files. Here is the word-diff comparing the 1.1 and 1.2 of the GNU Free Documentation License: http://people.debian.org/~branden/fdl/fdl-1.1-to-1.2.wdiff How does one create a wdiff? I use version 2.7 of GNU's diff program but I didn't see a compare-by-word option in its man page. Do I need another program? -- Kevin Conder, kevin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ______________________________________________________________________ Linux Users Of Northern Illinois - Technical Discussion luni@xxxxxxxx http://luni.org/mailman/listinfo/luni
