I have used Cisco 340 and 350 series cards w/o issues with RH9 and SuSE 7.2.
But you will have to pay the Cisco premium. The PCI card I bought for my
desktop cost me around $200.

The D-Link 650 also works; So far, I've used it with Knoppix 3.1 and
Mandrake 9.0 without any "after install" modifications.

Subject: [LUNI] wireless LAN for Linux

Hi,

I am in the process of setting up a wireless network at my house.I have a
Linksys 802.11b wireless gateway, and my laptop pcmcia card is a prism 2
type
(linksys, works great)

I am trying to find a wireless pci device for my desktop computer that works

with Linux. So far I have looked at the D-Link 520+ (apparently based on a
proprietary Texas Instruments Chip) and the Linksys WMP11 (these *used* to
use prism 2, but now use a currently unsupported Broadcom chip set.) This
pretty much takes care of the offerings at Best Buy and Micro Center. If
anyone has had any luck with wireless PCI (or USB hardware) under linux I
would love to know. Any adivice where to find this stuff in Chicago (and
price paid) would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert.
