Thanks for your help in this matter.
I downloaded the debian net install cd and started again.
Can anybody test for me: www.asib3edges.co.uk - this will just bring up
the default Apache2 page.
When it dropped back to the prompt I logged in as root and did apt-get
install apache2, installed and started, groovy.
After a bit of search and found the answer on a site in Russa apg-get
install ssh (I know should have been obvious I suppose).
I currently have the apache2 default page at the mo, so I just need to
setup the host files again and then I'll do the rest of the LAMP setup
sometime this weekend.
I can log in via ssh from my wonderful Kubuntu Dapper machine, KDE rocks
(will this start a thread I wonder).
Apologies I can't make the meet tomorrow unfortunately.
