Windows is the most spread software on the planet. You're probably right, since there /are/ a ton of pirates out there. My situation is that I've run Windows 2003 eval (RC2) for 360 days, and when my license ran out, it was either buy Windows XP, put ME back on (ugh), or simply re-partition the drive and do without Windows altogether. So your argument that "I do not know a single soul that has paid for it" is bunk. I'm still faced with the possibility of having to buy XP for this laptop.

That is what will get your computers confiscated and you jailed or fined. > What if this attitude was taught (and enforced) in school? To obey the laws? Actually, that attitude _is_ taught in school. > Being pedantic regarding licenses and eulas may result in confining > oneself to a 80x25 ghetto buffer. News flash: you could just use Linux and run a lot of free and open software on it, without breaking any laws, licences and Eulas. Which is what I do, and have done for quite a long time. Linux broke out of the "80x25 ghetto buffer" some 12 years ago, when the first X11 servers started running on it. -- David Kastrup, Kriemhildstr. 15, 44793 Bochum

Linux is SHIT

"Linux is business." For 8 years now each year has been declared "the year of Linux desktop", no inroads at all has been made. "Linux is cheaper, faster, easier." The professional editions cost the same if not even more, the free editions are worthless. "It has a better distribution system." Everybody have Windows, even Linux fanatics, and I do not know a single soul that has paid for it. Only companies and persons that buy with Windows pre-installed. Windows is the most spread software on the planet. "It has a better support system." Suppport is non-existent. Linux-administrator take it as an insult that they should support an ordinary user. The Win X system/Open Office crash every 10 min. There are no MSDN system for developers. Linux is a 30 year old incorrectly designed OS that should have been "Microkernel". But you can only dream. You have about 2 years more to dream! But there is hope. When MS adopts Linux (after the CLR is everywhere) at last there is going to be some quality Linux distributions. So hang on! :) In the meanwhile I suggest using Apple OSX.

Fwd: hey

The officers of the quarter-deck hurried to the after-part of the vessel No more msgs But this hard body might be a bony covering, like that of the antediluvian animals; and I should be free to class this monster among amphibious reptiles, such as tortoises or alligators!!! The frigate skirted the south-east coast of America with great rapidity!! One might have said that we were in a bath of quicksilver. valkyrie _______________________________________________ Gnu-misc-discuss mailing list Gnu-misc-discuss@xxxxxxx http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnu-misc-discuss
