It is RHEL3 not RHEL3 ... 2.6.9-34. I rebuilt the kernel because the APIC
stuff didn't seem to be turned on i.e. CONFIG_X86_IO_APIC and
CONFIG_X86_LOCAL_APIC.

CONFIG_PREEMPT=y.
