Just as a follow-up, I downloaded and installed release 2009.06 this weekend 
and installed it on the exact same machine as before and then ran blogbench on 
fresh install:

Final score for writes: 84
Final score for reads : 929

Still dismal compared to linux/FreeBSD. Also, apparently something has majorly 
regressed after 2008.11 since that was by far my best results to date for 
OpenSolaris and I can't come close with anything after that version. Despite 
this hardware being "supported", it isn't really supported... 

"Disappointed" doesn't even cut it for getting only 1% of the performance on 
this benchmark compared to Linux.
