I am trying to install the ctags port and it uses xinstall instead
of install in the port file. However, I do not have xinstall on my
system and I cannot find where to get it. I found an xinstall.c
file in the Pextlib but no binary xinstall program (which is what
the portfile appears to need). I created a symbolic link to install
and I got ctags to install but I don't know that this is the right
thing to do. I also cleaned and rebuilt darwinports base as well.
xinstall is not a binary. It's a Tcl command provided by darwinports.
If you do a cvs update of base and you rebuild and reinstall it,
you'll have it. It has been available since December, 30th, 2003.
As a general rule, it's important to update both base/ and dports/.
Bug fixes and new features are implemented in base/ and usually, we
discover bugs and we implement features because of the evolution of
the ports, so the latest version of the ports require the latest
version of base/.
