What linux do we use as reference ?

I don't think there's a clearly defined policy on this. I use Slackware, which (as a matter of policy) ships unpatched software whenever possible. Linux 2.4.25, glibc 2.3.2, gcc 3.3.3. I personally feel Slackware is a good reference - but I'm sure everyone else will disagree. :)

There are very few ports that have this line, and some obstacles (deps) to getting DarwinPorts working properly on Linux. However, we might as well establish some sort of consensus on this now. Comments?
