Not to sound foolish, but does Cisco have a utility available for updating the 
firmware?  I didn't
see one available on their web site.

Does Your Lap see it at all? If not try flipping the card over.
Try updating the firmware.
In as much as you are going to get a new pigtail anyway. just go mmcx to N.
