Subject: Re: RP-TNC style connector and antenna required?

Chuck. I was at vetco a week or so ago. And got a $20.00 panel antenna. comes with a 4' lead and an mmcx connector. They did not have any data on it. So they gave me one so I could review it. Which I did. It is a 6dbi rh circular polarized antenna with a 70* aperture. I got the Info. from the Mfg. website. Give Vetco a call and get the mfg. model and part# and go on line for the specs. $100.00 is a lot for an Omni. I think I paid like $35.00 for my 8dbi netnimble. 12dbi and up omnis' get pricey. Where are you at in Wallingford. I am on N. Q.A. So LOS is a possibility If you are on the S. slope.

Your Question about captive portal hits squarely in my ignorance zone. But I recently bought a MicroPlus MPA-13 "router" that will do p to p and p to mp. and client. and filter by mac address. and IP. It has a usb interface. + snmp. The snmp doesn't work when its in router mode or requires a bbs { mac target} Any way it does seem to bridge.. and snmp works in the other modes. IT was very cheap. They have another model with a 4 port router rather than the single I have. It has 2 external antenna with rpsma connectors. I can monitor it with aerosol so it may be a prism. My address and phone are in the wiki. If you want to play.

Greetings:

When I was last in Vetco, they didn't seem to ever seen a RP-TNC for the Linksys Router antenna mount. I did find them at http://www.hyperlinktech.com
hopefully they will sell me just one.

There are several RP-TNC styles for different cables. Am I correct in assuming, to gain the widest Wallingford neighborhood coverage, the best antenna is to go with the $100 omni I saw at Vetco? Therefore does anyone know, is that the RG6, RG58 or another style RP-TNC connector I need?

To stay within the law, does anyone know the Linksys router without antenna power output? What the Vetco $100 antenna gain is?
