Subject: Re: Cable, Connectors, Etc

Vetco surplus in Belleview has a good selection of coax connectors. WIFI Connectors are not standardized. The most common antenna connector is type N. Radio Card connectors are dependent on the Mfg. Common ones are MC card connectors {orinoco], mmcx [Cisco, Senao, Intel }, rpsma, ETC. Your best bet is to go to http://www.hyperlinktech.com/ and look at their list of pigtails. They list them by card mfg. and state the types of connector. Until recently The FCC required "not common connectors" to discourage using combinations of radios and antenna etc. that were not FCC certified. The companies doing the certification tests used What was called the Radio Shack test. to comply. IE if It wasn't available at RS it would be in compliance with the rule. Another consideration is that they needed to be small and have low loss at the operating frequency. Until recently a retailer might take 5 years to sell 10 rpsma connectors. so they don't stock them.

Could someone point me to good local, or mailorder source for buying coax,
connectors, etc?

Also, what are the official designators for the connectors that are used for
typical WiFi connectioins?
