Re: Federal judge bars states from collecting on VoIP providers: msg#00055network.wireless.seattle.general
I think this issue has a loooonnng way to go before the dust settles. I actually have Vonage and would recommend it to anyone (If you want it email me and I'll refer you--we both get a free month). When I started seeing the TV commercials I finally looked Vonage up on the internet. A hefty dig into their site led me to the technology they employ... then I looked at the hardware over at Cisco's site... just for kicks, I decided to give it a try. Money back guarantee, after all. It gives all of the features of the normal phone co with no added costs, plus free long distance. Only real hassle is you have to dial 1+xxx+nnn-nnnn for every number, the only real reason I still have my regular phone is because my girlfriend will *complain* (read bitch) if she has to remember to dial extra stuff all of the time. Interestingly, I choose 206 as my area code. With qwest, most 253 and some 425 count as long distance. With vonage, all of 253 and 425 are included in my local area. With 500 min. of other long distance in the cheap package, I'm set ~about $27/mo on my CC bill... If you travel you can take the think with you and have your own phone number anywhere. I have the ATA (analog telephone adaptor) plugged into a BEFW11S5 wireless sw/router, a BEFCMU10 cable modem to Comcast... no probs. I have had to redial a couple of calls because of "bad connections," whatever that equates to digitally. jmf ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Marshall" <tommy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <talk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 08, 2003 9:49 AM Subject: Federal judge bars states from collecting on VoIP providers > _______________________________________________ > Talk mailing list > Talk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > http://seattlewireless.net/mailman/listinfo/talk > _______________________________________________ Talk mailing list Talk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://seattlewireless.net/mailman/listinfo/talk |
