RE: More Mcwireless - Tully's and McDonalds - Cometa $12/month: msg#00034network.wireless.seattle.general
A quick report on this, a bit off-topic, but I suspect of general interest. Cometa is the IBM / Intel project. They are pretty quickly deploying, but T-Mobile (Starbucks) has the lead. ATT wireless seems to be the only billing provider for now, but they say others are coming. ((There are Sprint references on the announcements from Cometa)) We have been using the Cometa service for the past week, 4 locations in Renton. The quality of service is great (att network here in Seattle, all ports open, even all Microsoft 137/443 ports for now). We have had no trouble getting signal line-of-sight using a decent panel antenna. We typically park a block or two away from the McD or Tully's. Right now ATT seems to be offering a Seattle deal for $11.99/month. That is a great price for unlimited service. https://comet.convergentcare.com/comet/ServiceAgreement.do I tried to sign up today for the $12/month plan and it gets stuck on the Customer Registration screen. Hopefully just a problem they are having today? It looks like they are now in quite a few McDonalds in the Puget Sound region. Checkout http://www.mcdwireless.com/locations/MCDw_loc_SEA.html for more info. It looks like all the hotspots are temporarily configured for free access, but will require a meal purchase in the future. -Daniel Marsh _______________________________________________ Talk mailing list Talk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://seattlewireless.net/mailman/listinfo/talk _______________________________________________ Talk mailing list Talk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://seattlewireless.net/mailman/listinfo/talk |
