A "feedparser" for php and perl

Regardless of whether it would be *desirable*, would it be *possible* to 
port Mark Pilgrim's FeedParser to php and perl?

ps. Yes, I know about Magpie. Feel free to tell me about existing RSS 
parser projects in php and perl but that's not what I'm asking.
