Hi Aaron

I see that the RSS RDF Schema still has this mistake:

Instead of :

<rdfs:Property rdf:about="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/items";
rdfs:label="Items"
rdfs:comment="Points to a list of rss:item elements that are
members of the subject channel.">
<rdfs:isDefinedBy rdf:resource="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/"; />
</rdfs:Property>

It should be:

<rdf:Property rdf:about="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/items";
rdfs:label="Items"
rdfs:comment="Points to a list of rss:item elements that are
members of the subject channel.">
<rdfs:isDefinedBy rdf:resource="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/"; />
</rdf:Property>

Channel Hierarchies

Hi, We've brought up a beta site at http://www.solarpost.com that allows hierarchies of channels with associated content to be maintained and exported ( 'syndicated' ) in a variety of formats ( RSS 1.0, RSS .92, RSS .91, RSS .90, JavaScript, WML currently ). We'd appreciate your feedback, especially as testing has in some cases been minimal. To test drive: - Register ( sorry - we've tried to make it painless but need some way to organize state ) - Create a channel using the Composer button - mark the channel as available for export - Create channels and/or items within the channel ( recursively ) - Use the channel inspector ( the little hammer icon ) to obtain the export URLs - Access your channels and content from your favorite WAP device, channel player/radio, etc. We have found channel hierarchies a useful tool which complement both categorization and keywords - especially when creating/syndicating an information architecture ( at the site, corporate, etc. levels ). You'll see how the URLs naturally map to the hierarchy. We have customers who are exploiting this to increasingly maintain all site content on solarpost. Pete

Meerkat and Dublin Core

Howdy, I've just finished up some work on the next version of Meerkat which will sport Dublin Core, both in output and searching capabilities[1]. DC elements are incorporated into all flavours, such as the default and RSS 1.0 views. Soon you'll be able to search RSS 1.0 enabled feeds aggregated by Meerkat for all stories by author, publication date, publisher, keywords, and so on. For screen snaps, point your browser at: http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/weblog/view/wlg/170 There's been some mention of late about placing RSS 1.0 enriched applications and tools higher on the priority list[2]. While Meerkat has actually supported mod_dc for a while now, I've been rather remiss in incorporating said functionality into the public-facing bits, now remedied. I'll drop another note when the new version is ready for public consumption (ETA: the next few days). I encourage you to continue your tinkering and share even the unfinished bits and bobs every so often. Would seem sensible. Sorry, a couple of people have asked me about this, and is wasn't clear. Here's an attempt to clarify: The WG agreed to put a RDDL document at: http://purl.org/rss/1.0/ I have set up a temporary document for comments at: http://blogspace.com/rss/rddl-example Please review that document. After one week, I will move it to Yahoo Groups, and change the RSS PURL to point to it. Does that make sense? -- [ Aaron Swartz | me@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx | http://www.aaronsw.com ]
