As I said I won't push hard to remove it even if I still don't find the service document of much use. So I'll refrain complaining about it if the majority is willing to keep it for reasons I still cannot see :)

Speaking as one who's currently working on an APP client, I find the
service doc to be easy to understand, and a natural tool for
bootstrapping client operations. I can't imagine why we'd want to do
away with it -Tim

+1. As supporting data, I'll repeat that we launched the Google
Calendar Data API without such a capability and received significant
user feedback that they needed a way to list user calendars (aka
collections).
