Ping Test

Hi,
In Troubeshooting guide one wrote: "Make sure that each host can ping the 
other
using the "remote" address from the config file
BEFORE starting up OpenVPN."

But If i have a ICMP packetes blocketd, but i see the other end (throuw tcp 
packets) will this work? Uses Openvpn the ICMP packets?
