Media Icon - Registry Controllable?: msg#00507network.openvpn.user
Hi Folks, I've been trying Autoit3 to script a simple frontend to OpenVPN which, among other things, hides the logging window once the password is passed to the certificate. My current goal is to give the user a CD with the cert on it, password protected and have them guard it like they do their own keys. We do this with another port forwarding system using Zebedee. I currently have Autorun.inf get the user's password, install OpenVPN, startit (not check if the password was entered correctly), and put a stop icon on the desktop. It also asks the user if they wish to uninstall OpenVPN when they disconnect. Crude, but might actually work :). I can pass the current script along if anyone is interested in possibly an odd way to please users :). Anyway, I'd like to see the network icon be gone when users are not using OpenVPN and have the network icon there when it is active. I know I can manually go into the properties for the TAP driver and turn on the icon when connected, but I am wondering if I can hide/show this media status icon from a registry setting or something easy ;)? thanks, JES -- James B.
