Parsing traps with snmptrapd: msg#00330network.net-snmp.user
All, I'm re-visiting a number of problems I've had in the past, and I'm back to my "parsing traps" problem. snmptrapd produces traps as follows: 2004-01-30 07:58:46 e0-0.router.example.net [192.168.1.2] (via 10.180.109.2) TRAP, SNMP v1, community nms-traps CISCO-SMI::ciscoMgmt.26.2 Enterprise Specific Trap (2) Uptime: 58: CISCO-SMI::ciscoMgmt.26.1.1.1.1.3.7.1 8 CISCO-SMI::ciscoMgmt.26.1.1.1.1.4.7.1 "router2" CISCO-SMI::ciscoMgmt.26.1.1.1.1.5.7.1 "00442074848222" What I want to do is to parse these easily without having to resort to jumping through hoops and lots of regex matching. The ideal situation would be to have snmptrapd producing traps in a format similar to "<oid><tab><value>", making parsing incredibly easy. Is this possible with snmptrapd in 5.0.9? Is it planned to have 'easily parsable' output in a future version? Would I be taking on too big a job trying to produce a patch for snmptrapd?
