Re: URGENT: help with overriding the value for sysObjectID.0: msg#00323network.net-snmp.user
[ First - *please* don't mail me privately, without copying any responses to the mailing list. I don't have the time or inclination to offer private, unpaid, SNMP consultancy. Keep discussions to the list, where others can both learn and offer advice. Thanks. ] > > Why not use the configure directive that's specifically provided > > for this purpose? > > sysdescr STRING > > sysobjectid OID > > Sets the system description or object ID for the agent. > I'm working against ucd-snmp, version 4.1.2 . That is a *very* old version - dating from about four years ago. A *LOT* has changed has changed in the meantime, including some fairly major security fixes. I'd strongly suggest you look at upgrading. > When I add the line > > sysobjectid 1.3.6.... > > to the conf file (right after the sysdescr line ), I get "unknown token: > sysobjectid". Yup. That directive was added in December 2002, and is only supported in version 5.0.7 and later. The 4.x line doesn't recognise it. > This 4.1.2 is the ported version for uClinux on an Arcturus > coldfire eval board. Did you have to make many code changes to get it to run on uClinux? If you could feed back any necessary patches, we could try to include them in the main source code.
