check_http with ssl

Hi,

while checking for https site, I defined a command in checkcommand.cfg as

define command{
        command_name    check_http_8443
        command_line    $USER1$/check_http -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -p 8443 --ssl
        }

and gave it in service section. But while running it, I get an error like

        ERROR: Cannot retrieve server certificate.

I am using nagios-1.1 and nagios-plugins-1.4.0alpha1

I am pretty new to nagios, so any help will be much appreciated.
