Subject: Re: Psi nickname patch - msg#00128
List: network.jabber.py-transports
The nickname patch now definitely works. If you update your nickname in
the vCard it is broadcast to other clients by your presence. Other
clients' nicknames will appear in the tooltip.
I checked out a new copy of Psi with darcs and updated the patch to
apply cleanly to that version.
It requires a darcs pull from
http://spike.ulyssis.org/psi/darcs/psi-avatars to work.
Please have a look at http://delx.cjb.net/psi
There's also an OSX build there, with current mainline + avatars +
ad-hoc commands patches, as well as the nickname patch.

Re: Problem Blocking contacts in PyMSNt avatars version
That sounds like a bug. I'll check it out when I get home.
Thanks.

I have the following problem with the new avatars transport
To block a user form msn, i send a <presence to

works fine and in msn the jabber conctact apperas as disconected in
xxx list, however
to unblock the contact i send a <presence to
xxx%hotmail.com@xxxxxxxxxxx" type="subscribed"/> packet, but in msn
list of xxx the jabber conctact keeps apearing as disconected, i have
to logout end login again to the transport in order to make the change
evident.
the same thig happens when sending a subscribed packet in response to
an invitation during a session.
it worked fine with erlier versions (not avatars) of the transport.
how can i fix this? or do i need to send another packet besides
presence? to make the change effective?
thanks

PyMSNt: roster-subsync packets don't include nickname
I'm running PyMSNt from the avatars branch. I've noticed that the
roster subsync packets no longer include the nickname of contacts.
For most of them I can see the nickname in the vCard though.

Psi nickname patch
I've made a few patches that make Psi broadcast understand nicknames in
the presence packet, alongside the photo hash.
These patches apply to Remko's psi-avatar branch.
You will now see nicknames of PyMSNt users in the status tooltip.
Have a look at http://delx.cjb.net/psi
There's an OSX build there you can try out.
Any chance of this getting into Psi mainline for 0.10 or 0.11?

Psi and MSN Nicknames and bickering
Ok folk, this is getting ridiculous. I see no objection to Norman
posting about building a recent Psi. There was an interest in a
newer version to test with. Not that I use Psi under Windows, but I
appreciate Norman trying to provide something for folk to test with.
If you don't care about Psi, there's a nifty delete function in your
E-Mail client. Use it.
I don't understand why this nicknames discussion generated so much
negative discussion. Seemed like a fairly reasonable thing to talk
about myself. Looks like it was agreed that it's time to bring this
up with the JIG, so go do it and stop picking fights here.
In general, can we please try to be a little more civil? Everyone's
entitled to their opinions. There is no need for this "your opinion
is wrong" crap.
Thanks.
