On GNA, we had to convert our cvs repository to a svn repository (cvs2svn ... it works very well). It saves all the historic of the cvs ... no information is lost. However, I think that when the conversion is done, there is now way to synchronised both - except manually, obviously - and I don't think there is a utility to convert from svn to cvs. - From my experience, the most appreciative thing to the conversion from cvs to svn we obtained was the capability to manage and to make the arborescence of our respository evolve freely because svn do not have the system of module present in cvs. If you want an idea of a svn repository, you can take a look at : http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/gasell/ For the commands : cvs update -> svn update cvs commit -> svn commit cvs status -> svn status (way more readable) cvs add -> svn add cvs remove -> svn del cvs diff -> svn diff (output is directly a patch) ... and mostly the same for the others. For information on the migration : http://sam.zoy.org/writings/programming/svn2cvs.html ... and a comparison of both systems : http://www.pushok.com/soft_svn_vscvs.php hop ... :) GrdScarabe -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFD2wszPmfsnt4Id3wRAk0SAJ43jXj2IkFMCXVg1LYxG2d/S30mbwCgozYJ ZjNHHeiqJHRXtXqpI3weftk= =9ab7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
