RE: named.conf files?: msg#00350

Subject: RE: named.conf files?
Yes, Bind 9.x does support an $INCLUDE directive. See page 158, 162, 226,
and 528 of the O'Reilly DNS and BIND book, 4th edition. In addition,
chapters 4 and 6 of the BIND ARM (packaged with the BIND source code and
found in the doc/arm directory) explain the use of $INCLUDE.

Subject: named.conf files?

Is there a way to have more than one config file? Like an include
statement or something form the main named.conf file?

I would really like to keep my secondary configs separate from my normal
masters. I currently do this in human readable fomr in the named.conf
file. I need to automate things a little with scripts, but the only way to
really be sure things aren't messed up is to append to the end of the
file. This is going to mess up my organization, and in turn may make
things a little harder to troubleshoot when I screw them up.

It would really be nice to have a separate named.conf type file for each
of the servers I secondary for. This would make things a little easier for
me.

Is this a possibility with BIND 9.2.1 ?

Thanks,
Chuck
