Whatever user you are running BIND as needs to have write access to the
/*chroot*/var/run/named/ directory so it can create the PID file.

Subject: About chroot
Dear,
My nameserver uses bind 9.2.1 on Linux. I make chroot but no result
because when I see log file then there is an error:=20
"couldn't open pid file ' /var/run/named/named.pid': Permission denied "
there is not file named.pid in directory /var/run/named. Why? Help me
explain this. Thanks in advance
