I have 2 DNS servers (one master, one slave) running on RedHat 7.1, 2.4.9
kernel, with Bind 9.2.1 installed from rpm.
I recently started noticing the following messages in /var/log/messages:
Jun 22 11:46:05 dns named[32255]: client 123.123.123.50#62574: error
sending response: host unreachable
Jun 22 11:47:32 dns named[32255]: client 123.123.123.53#63105: error
sending response: host unreachable
Jun 22 11:49:59 dns named[32255]: client 123.123.123.99#4916: error sending
response: host unreachable
My guess is that they started since I upgraded to 9.2.1, since the messages
started June 4 and I upgraded the rpms the same day.
I've searched the archives and just about everywhere else I know to look
(Google, RedHat, etc.) and I find no reference to this error (not that
there isn't one - I just haven't found it). The errors occur frequently,
from as seldom as every few minutes, to as often as several a minute. They
happen on both my master and slave servers.
Can someone help me understand why they are happening and what I need to do
to prevent them from occurring?
Thank you very much!
